Goals & Mission

BARE’s mission is to remove the barriers that Black trans people, especially Black trans women, face in accessing emotional healthcare and healing. We achieve this through organizing, education, training, grant making, and advocacy.

Core Values

1. Self-Determination: Prioritizing autonomy and decision-making power for Black trans individuals.

2. Community-Centered: Fostering a sense of belonging, support, and connection among Black trans community members.

3. Intersectionality: Recognizing and addressing the multiple, intersecting forms of oppression faced by Black trans individuals.

4. Resilience: Honoring the strength, adaptability, and survival strategies of Black trans people.

5. Collective Liberation: Working towards a future where all Black trans people can thrive, free from systemic oppression.

Vision

Our vision is a world where Black trans people live without the burden of systemic discrimination, where they have access to the support and care they need to thrive emotionally, mentally, and physically. We aim to foster healing, build community, and create lasting change.

Through our work, we envision a future where all individuals, regardless of gender identity, race, or background, can access a safe, healing space that nurtures their emotional well-being.
